How AI reviews your application

When you apply for a job through Vouch, AI helps the hiring team review applications. This article explains what that means, what the AI does and doesn't do, and the choices you have.
What the AI does
After you submit your application, AI reads your CV and your answers to the application questions. It uses them to:
Create a short summary of your background for the recruiter
Suggest how well your experience matches what the role asks for
Make your application easier to find when the recruiter searches or filters candidates
This works in any language, so you can apply in the language you're most comfortable with.
What this enables for you
AI review isn't only a tool for the hiring team. It changes how your application is seen:
You become discoverable. Your CV is turned into a structured profile: skills, experience, education, and languages the recruiter can actually search on. Without it, you're only found if someone opens your PDF.
You're matched on substance. The AI compares your experience against the actual requirements of the role, not just whether your CV happens to contain the right keywords or a familiar job title. Relevant experience under a different title still counts.
Your application is understood quickly. In processes with hundreds of applicants, a clear summary means a recruiter grasps your background in seconds instead of skimming page one of your CV.
You can be considered for more than one role. If the company searches its candidate pool for a future opening, your structured profile lets you surface for roles you never applied to.
Language is not a barrier. Because the AI reads any language, you can apply in your own, and your profile is still searchable and comparable alongside everyone else's.
If you decline AI review, none of this happens automatically. A recruiter reads your original CV and answers instead. You're still fully considered for the role you applied to; you just won't have the structured profile working for you in searches and matching.
What the AI never does
It never rejects anyone. The AI has no power to decline your application or remove you from the process. Every decision about your application is made by a person on the hiring team.
It never interviews you. Interviews at companies using Vouch are always held by people. AI helps recruiters prepare and stay organised, but it doesn't talk to candidates on their behalf.
It never ranks you out of sight. Recruiters see your full application, not just a score.
Your choice: declining AI review
You can decline AI review when you apply. Look for "Decline AI review" near the bottom of the application form. You can also decline after applying, using the link in your confirmation email.
If you decline:
Your CV and answers are not read or summarised by AI
A recruiter reviews your application manually
Your application is marked "Manual review" so the hiring team knows to look at it themselves
You are still fully considered for the role. Declining has no effect on your chances
If you decline after AI review has already run, any AI-generated summaries and match suggestions about you are deleted.
You can change your mind in either direction at any time while your application is active.
Your data and your rights
The hiring company is responsible for your application data; Vouch processes it on their behalf. AI review is based on the company's legitimate interest in handling applications efficiently, and declining it is your right to object under GDPR Article 21. No justification is needed.
