Set candidate requirements

Last updated: June 19, 2026

Requirements are the standard fields at the top of an application — name, email, CV, and so on. This is where you decide which are mandatory, so you don't lose good applicants to a wall of required fields or, conversely, end up with profiles too thin to screen.

When to use it. While setting up questions, and revisit it whenever a role needs more (or less): make a CV required for a senior hire, or drop everything but name and email for a high-volume frontline role.

Where: listing → Candidate / referrer questions (Edit application flow) → Questions for candidates.

At the top of the candidate questions sits a card of default fields. Name and Email are always Required. For the rest, toggle whether each is Optional or Required:

  • Phone number — Optional / Required.
  • One of CV or LinkedIn — Optional / Required.
  • Portfolio URL — Optional / Required.
  • TranscriptSkip / Optional / Required (this both enables transcript upload and sets whether it's mandatory).

Changes save as you toggle them.

Good to know. Every field you mark Required is friction. Require what you genuinely need to screen (often One of CV or LinkedIn), and leave the rest Optional so a strong candidate isn't stopped by a missing portfolio link. Transcript has a Skip option for roles where it's irrelevant.
