Use AI to write or improve a message

Last updated: June 19, 2026

Staring at an empty composer is the slowest part of outreach. The Assistant removes it: from any message composer (single or bulk), the Generate with AI / Improve with AI button opens a prompt field and writes a first draft you then make your own.

It drafts; you review and send. The Assistant never sends on its own, and it never conducts the conversation — it just gets words on the page faster.

How to use it

  • Label: "How can we improve this message?"
  • Placeholder: "i.e. Let the candidate know you will get back to them, let the candidate know an offer is coming soon, etc."
  • Press ⌘↵ to apply, or choose Make changes.

Tell it the intent in plain language ("offer is coming, keep it warm and brief") rather than wording the email yourself — that's the part it's good at. The more context the candidate already has in Vouch (stage, referral, evaluation), the more the draft reflects it.

Presets — quick-start options that appear alongside the prompt field (which ones appear depends on the candidate's current stage):

PresetPurpose
Based on "Stage name"Generate a default message for that stage
General OutreachWarm-up message for a new opportunity
Referral OutreachMention the referral, nudge the candidate
Clarify ConcernsAsk about identified gaps before deciding
Invite for interviewInterview invitation with prior context
RejectionThank-you + high-level rejection
Rejection (candidate dropped out)Thank candidate who withdrew
Expect delayed replyLet candidate know response will take time
Vacation noticeAlert candidate to delayed response due to vacation

The AI generates the draft; you review before sending.

Good to know. Presets are starting points, not finished messages — pick the one closest to your intent, generate, then trim. Referral Outreach in particular leans on the referral context, so it reads best on candidates who actually came in through a vouch.

AI messaging is a Pro feature (requires enableAIForCommunications). On other plans you can still write and send messages manually. See Billing & plans.
