Use variables in messages

Last updated: June 19, 2026

A variable is a placeholder that fills itself in per candidate — so one draft becomes a hundred personal messages, no manual find-and-replace. Type @ anywhere in the message body to insert one.

Available variables:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Full Name
  • Listing Name (the job title)
  • Scheduling Link (for stage) — a booking link tied to the stage's calendar settings
  • Referral Review Link — a link for the voucher to review the referral
  • Custom booking links you've created under your calendar settings

You can also click the Variables / Booking links button (in bulk mode) to browse the available variables without typing @.

When to reach for which

  • Use First Name / Full Name in every bulk send — it's the cheapest personalisation there is and the difference between "Hi" and "Hi Maria."
  • Use Scheduling Link (for stage) in interview invites so the candidate books straight into the right calendar — no back-and-forth on times. See Interviews & scheduling.
  • Use Referral Review Link when you need the voucher (not the candidate) to confirm or add detail on a referral.

Scheduling links require a connected calendar. If your calendar is not connected, the booking link variable won't work and Vouch will warn you before sending.

Troubleshooting — the link came out blank. A scheduling-link variable resolves against the stage's (or your custom) calendar settings. If that calendar is disconnected, the variable has nothing to point at. Reconnect under your calendar settings, or switch the message to a custom booking link that is connected. See Integrations.
